Yvette Craddock, Founder and Managing Member of Click Marketing Solutions, has sent in pictures of her beautiful Midwestern Home, filled with funky touches that add modern fun factor.
“It all started with my new home vision boards” says Yvette. “My main criteria, outside of location, were a home with lots of light with ceiling to floor windows, high ceilings, spacious rooms and privacy. Well, wouldn’t you know that I found a house on a private, wooded hill that was identical to the images that I had included on my vision board which is the home that you see today?”
Once the perfect place had been sourced, how did Yvette go about completing her dream interior?
“My approach to creating my new sanctuary was simple – showcase my love for great design and the arts while incorporating a sense of humor. My style is a blend of contemporary and Mid-Century modern design. My dominant color palette is black and white, including greys, with pops of vibrant purple, fuchsia, yellow and emerald green throughout the main living area.
My green, first floor bathroom (replete with disco balls and an art deco mirror) white baby grand piano, oversized eating utensil wall decor and painted film reels all correspond with my intentional purpose.
Did I mention my fascination with disco balls? Yep, I have everything from a disco ball installation with a floor spot light in the den, to disco balls in the living room, first floor bathroom and a mirrored Absolute Vodka bottle on the downstairs fireplace mantle. My fascination and appreciation for Tom Dixon’s work was the perfect outlet for adding a discoballesque lighting fixture to my master bedroom.
For the bedrooms, I opted for a softer and serene palette of butter yellows, taupes, seafoam green, aquas and cobalt blue with metallic silver and gold accents. I tend to be monochromatic, so I used texture to add an additional visual and emotional dimension to these rooms.
Before I moved in, I laid out each room which included the color palette, furniture style and pieces and bought and created art to accent the flow and feel. I then embarked on a 30 day shopping blitz that included a tour of my favorite contemporary, vintage, thrift and online stores to select the final pieces. I found each item or a version of it that I had included on my vision board. Over time, I’ve edited the rooms, like you would your wardrobe, and incorporated furniture, accessories and nature elements that reflect the home’s essence. The result is a peaceful and fun cocoon in which I love to live and entertain.”
